Empowering Lives Through Education, Advocacy and Service
Who We Are:
The Mission and Vision
Birthed through lived experiences with impactful educators, community servants and faith led obedience, The Pearl Elizabeth Foundation was created! In honor of the late, Pearl Elizabeth Clinkscales Lee, whose served within the state of North Carolina as an educator and served her communities through advocacy and sharing of resources, I was inspired to continue her legacy.
PEF is a North Carolina based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals through educational programs and support services. We believe in empowering our community by providing access to quality education, skills development, and resources that foster personal growth and economic stability. Join us in creating a brighter future for all.

Anita Phillips described herself as a native of east Burlington who started school at Eastlawn Elementary School and whose mother was a “pillar in the community” and an advocate for education. She said that ABSS has a “deficit of licensed educators” in some of the schools she went through and “definitely a divide” in the types of programs offered in ABSS schools.
“There is a deficit to be addressed, but we need to work quickly,” Phillips said Monday night.
“If something happens in west Burlington, we need it in east Burlington.” - Anita Phillips
